Jaber is geboren in As-Suwayda, Syrie. Hij leerde op jonge leeftijd de Oud bespelen, een traditioneel oosters instrument en voorloper van de luit. Hij studeerde aan het conservatorium van Damascus en behaalde cum laude zijn mastergraad aan het Codarts in Rotterdam. Jaber is een veelzijdig muzikant. In zijn optredens klinken invloeden door uit verschillende in het Midden Oosten gewortelde muzikale tradities, die in zijn compostities vermengd worden met invloeden uit de klassieke muziek, jazz en Flamenco.
Jaber Fayad – ‘Oud’
Op het Cross Over festival geeft Jaber een solo Oud optreden. In zijn eigen woorden: “Playing solo connects you with your soul and the audience. It is a way to discover your deepest self and unite with your instrument, melody and the world around you. Sufi solo music is a bridge to paradise which could take you in an introspective and meditational journey. Close your eyes and listen to the intimate pure sound of the mother of all picking instruments, and Sufi traditional music in a modern arrangement and elegant free improvisation.
